Procera Networks, Inc. - (OTC BB: PRNW)
The OTC Digest's most recently profiled company Procera Networks, Inc. (PRNW) announced the introduction of their new OptimIP Port Lockdown Authority product. This breakthrough product eliminates the spread of virus type damage to internal business networks. PRNW's approach is unique and the demand for networks to protect, quarantine and contain potentially damaging viruses is enormous as the impact of virus-borne attacks becomes more and more prevalent. Hackers design worms and viruses such as MyDoom and others typically to spread through a backdoor to infected computers, which in turn causes these computers to take some action, such as searching Google for the email addresses of unsuspecting recipients, which results in an even more widespread attack.
The OptimIP Port Lockdown Authority collects information from learning-based monitoring of unusual network traffic or through security community alerts. Armed with this information, the OptimIP system can then automatically or interactively "lockdown" activity to the suspected "Port" of entry, such as Port 1034 in the case of the MyDoom virus, on any or all computers on the internal business network. The OptimIP suite of products enables businesses of all sizes to achieve immediate and measurable results in productivity at a low cost. The OptimIP suite can eliminate internal network security breaches, significantly reduce exposure from Internet misuse and abuse, enable selective data archiving for corporate governance and regulatory compliance, and accelerate the performance of critical business applications. The OptimIP suite is easy to install, deploy and manage, and is available now. An independent article written last Thursday, September 9, 2004 in eChannelLine Daily News by Chris Talbot outlined and summarized the impact of PRNW's new entry-level OptimIP 2402 product. Mr. Talbot notes that mobile devices are one of the big causes of security breaches, whether they're PDAs, wireless- enabled laptop computers or other devices that connect to the company's network inside the firewall. Additionally an article on PRNW was published in the Sarbanes-Oxley Compliance Journal on September 13, 2004, titled "Spreading Virus Damage is Now a Thing of the Past." According to the recently released "Insider Threat Study: Illicit Cyber Activity in the Banking and Finance Sector," conducted by Carnegie Mellon University in conjunction with the Secret Service National Threat Assessment Center, "Insiders pose a substantial security threat by virtue of their knowledge of and access to their employers' systems and/or databases, and their ability to bypass existing physical and electronic security measures through legitimate means." In 30 percent of the cases studied, the financial loss was in excess of $500,000. In one case, the perpetrator caused a bank to lose over $600 million. In another case, a company impacted by a "logic bomb," consisting of malicious code triggered after a designated time or specified system action, sustained a loss of approximately $3 million.
